Balcony decking

Fire-rated balcony decking for high-rise buildings

Patented decking in aluminium and porcelain — developed to meet today's requirements for fire safety, anti-slip performance and durability on high-rise balconies and terraces.

Balcony decking requirements

Load-bearing capacity, fire and anti-slip performance

Load-bearing capacity

Balcony decking must carry expected loads without risk of collapse — both live load (people, furniture) and self-weight.

Fire safety

For buildings over 11 m, a minimum fire rating of A2-s1, d0 (non-combustible) is required. Timber and other combustible materials are unsuitable.

Anti-slip

The material must provide sufficient slip resistance in both dry and wet conditions.

d² Dura Deck Aluminium

Aluminium decking for balconies

Our patented aluminium balcony decking is tested by an accredited UKAS body and achieves fire rating A2fl-s1. A double-skinned construction with an anti-slip surface, low weight and durable composition. Deflection, load-bearing capacity and span should be verified against technical documentation for the project concerned.

According to the manufacturer, the aluminium decking can span further and use less material than some competing products — values should be verified against current product data sheets. A powder-coated surface is designed to feel cooler underfoot than composite timber in an equivalent colour.

  • Fire rating A2fl-s1
  • Unique surface coating with documented anti-slip performance
  • Lightweight profile — suitable for both new build and renovation
  • Cool underfoot
  • Two drainage options (Positive-Drain / Free-Drain)
d² Dura Deck Inspire

Porcelain decking for balconies

Our porcelain range gives the appearance of traditional timber planks but with fire rating A1 — non-combustible. According to the manufacturer, it offers high strength compared with competing products (verify against current product data) and anti-slip performance that meets the R11 standard.

Planks of 1.8 metres mean an area of 3.24 m² can be installed in under 3 minutes. Manufactured in Europe from 60% recycled material and fully recyclable at the end of its service life.

  • Fire rating A1 (non-combustible)
  • High strength
  • Resistant to heat and water absorption
  • Excellent anti-slip and scratch resistance
  • Natural wood-grain look in several shades
Tested and certified

LOW WEIGHT, LOW MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENT AND LONG SERVICE LIFE

Performance is built into every product and proven through extensive testing in UKAS-accredited laboratories. Each component is tested individually and given a unique fire rating. The balcony decking is tested horizontally — as it is actually installed — and every colour variant is tested separately to ensure equivalent performance.

Lightweight
Low weight simplifies installation.
Low maintenance
No sanding, oiling or painting — just simple cleaning.
Durable
Part of the d² range — lower embodied CO₂ and recyclability.
