EPDs and Environmental Documentation

An Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, presents quantified environmental information for a product based on a life cycle assessment and defined product category rules. This page provides full EPDs and other product-specific environmental documentation for selected GRP, aluminium and porcelain products from Dura Composites.Always check the product scope, declared unit, system boundary, reported life cycle modules, declaration number and validity before using a document for design, environmental assessment or procurement.

About the documents

Document owner
Dura Composites Ltd
Standards for full EPDs
EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025

Verification
The full EPDs are externally third-party verified. Documents labelled Design Phase EPD are presented as such.
LCA basis
Prepared to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 for each full EPD.
Reported life cycle modules
Varies between documents. The system boundary and declared modules are stated in each EPD.
Validity
The declaration number, publication date, revision date and validity period are stated in each document.
Product scope
Check that the EPD covers the product, size or product group used in the project.

Document types on this page

Full EPD
A document with its own declaration number, programme operator, external verification and validity period.
Design Phase EPD
A document explicitly classified as a Design Phase EPD.
Product-specific environmental sheet
A document with product-specific data that may be based on a verified parent EPD.

How an EPD can be used

An EPD can be used as verified data in, for example, carbon calculations, environmental certification, material assessments and procurement. The document must always be assessed against the product and the function that applies in the project.

  • As data in a project-specific carbon calculation, where the document's product scope and reported modules are relevant.
  • As environmental documentation in procurement and design.
  • As supporting evidence in certification schemes where the scheme criteria allow it.
  • To assess a product's reported life cycle impact.
  • To support comparisons where function, unit, system boundary and life cycle modules are comparable.

Always check that you are using the current revision. See also technical information and important notices.

Points to consider when comparing

An EPD does not in itself mean that one product has a lower environmental impact than another. For a comparison to be relevant, the products must be assessed on the same function and comparable conditions, for example:

  • declared or functional unit
  • system boundary
  • reported life cycle modules
  • product function
  • expected service life
  • sizing and material use
  • relevant product category rules

Note in particular that the documents on this page do not use the same declared unit: the GRP documents use 1 kg, the aluminium document 1 kg and the porcelain document 1 m². Carbon figures should therefore not be placed side by side as a direct product comparison.

Document guidance

Need help choosing the right document?

We help you identify which EPD or product-specific environmental documentation is relevant to the product and application used in your project.
