GRP fencing is used to define and protect areas where traditional metal or timber fencing can be affected by corrosion, moisture, chemicals or electrical installations.

The system is built from low self-weight GRP panels, posts, support profiles, gates and fixings selected to suit the height, loading and security requirements of the project. The open mesh structure provides good visibility, ventilation and lower wind loading than fully solid panels.

The panels can be cut and worked with suitable standard tools without welding or other hot works. This simplifies adaptation and can contribute to faster installation, both in new build and refurbishment.

GRP does not rust or rot and normally requires no painting, galvanising or anti-corrosion treatment. The limited maintenance requirement supports a long service life and lower costs over time.

GRP is electrically non-conductive and can therefore be a suitable alternative for perimeter protection, barriers and technical screening in electrified environments. The properties of the material reduce the risk of the fence conducting electrical current, but do not replace the other safety measures or the electrical risk assessment for the project.

GRP gates

Low self-weight gates for safe, controlled access

Dura Fencing can be completed with modular GRP gates for pedestrian access, platform ends, depots and technical areas.

The gates can be built using the same panels and structural profiles as the fencing system to create a consistent appearance. The low weight simplifies opening, closing and installation while retaining the electrically non-conductive and corrosion-resistant properties of the material.

Design and performance

Specified to suit height, loading and environment

GRP fencing is built from infill panels, load-bearing posts, structural profiles and fixings. Components are selected according to the height of the fence, panel width, wind loading, crowd loading, substrate and application.

Dura Profile is used for load-bearing posts and frames. Infill panels can be supplied in different mesh sizes and thicknesses depending on the required visibility, ventilation and level of security.

Byggkomposit can assist with product selection, technical data, drawings and project-specific design. Any requirements for crowd loading, wind loading, fixings and security classification should be established for the individual project.

Fencing developed for demanding environments

GRP is not affected by corrosion in the same way as steel and normally requires no painting, galvanising or anti-corrosion treatment. This gives a limited maintenance requirement and can extend the service life of the structure in exposed environments.

d2 panels are developed for high structural performance in relation to their weight. The low weight can reduce the need for heavy transport and lifting during installation.

Dura Composites has also developed methods for handling installation offcuts and end-of-life GRP products. The material can be reused or processed into raw material for new composite products.
