GRP PROFILES

STRONG GRP PROFILES WITH LOW WEIGHT AND A LONG SERVICE LIFE

Dura Profile is a complete range of pultruded GRP profiles for load-bearing structures, platforms, walkways and bespoke constructions. The range includes beams, columns and channel, angle, T- and tube profiles. The profiles combine high strength with low weight, high corrosion resistance and low maintenance. This makes them a sustainable alternative to steel, aluminium and timber in demanding environments.

Structural GRP profiles

Replaces steel, aluminium and timber in load-bearing structures

Dura Profile is a range of pultruded glass-fibre reinforced profiles developed as a long-lasting, corrosion-resistant and low self-weight alternative to steel, aluminium and timber. The profiles are manufactured through a continuous process in which glass-fibre reinforcement is drawn through a resin-saturated die under heat — producing a homogeneous, high-strength profile with consistent mechanical properties.

The range includes I-beams, channel sections, L-angles, T-profiles, box sections, round profiles and flat bars. The profiles are used as load-bearing structures in walkways, platforms, stairs, handrails, cable ladders, tank supports and other structural applications where service life, low weight and corrosion resistance are essential.

Dura Profile is non-conductive, spark-free and magnetically neutral — which makes the material ideal for electrical installations, in explosive-risk environments and for work near sensitive electronics. Available in a standard version as well as fire-retardant and low-smoke (LSFR) variants for tunnels, trains and public environments.

Corrosion resistant

A durable alternative to steel and timber. The material neither rusts nor rots and requires no protective surface treatment.

Low weight

Weighs around a quarter of an equivalent steel profile, simplifying transport, handling and installation.

Electrically insulating and spark-free

A safe choice for electrical installations as well as marine and explosive-risk environments.

Long service life

Requires low maintenance and needs no painting, galvanising or corrosion protection treatment.

UP TO 50% HIGHER STRENGTH

STRONGER GRP PROFILES THAT CAN REDUCE MATERIAL USE

d2 Dura Profile is a range of pultruded GRP profiles with high strength, low weight and very good resistance to corrosion, chemicals and weathering. The profiles can be up to 50% stronger than comparable products, which can make it possible to use smaller dimensions and thereby reduce both material use and costs — without compromising on structural performance. GRP profiles are a durable and cost-effective alternative to carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium and timber in demanding industrial environments. The material's resistance to chemicals and corrosion also contributes to lower maintenance requirements and a lower total cost over the structure's service life. However, not all composite profiles have the same properties. Performance is affected by factors such as the amount and orientation of glass fibres, material quality, manufacturing precision and the environment in which the profiles will be used. Through extensive testing, product development and optimised manufacturing processes, Dura Composites has developed profiles with consistent quality and documented high structural performance. It is the combination of careful manufacturing and considered design that sets d2 Dura Profile apart from many traditional GRP profiles.

The result

HIGHER PERFORMANCE WITH LESS MATERIAL

  • Up to 50% stronger than other GRP profiles
  • Up to 50% lower embodied carbon
  • Fully recyclable at end of life

This makes it possible for engineers and designers to create efficient solutions with fewer or smaller components — without compromising on strength and function.

BENEFITS FOR YOUR PROJECT

WHAT IT MEANS IN PRACTICE

  • Greater freedom in design and engineering
  • Lighter profiles that simplify transport, handling and installation
  • Lower material costs without compromising strength
  • Long service life and lower environmental impact
Dura Profile

Four benefits of Dura Profile

Dura Profile combines pultruded GRP profiles with clearly documented and tested material data. This makes it easier to select and design the right profile based on load, environment and desired service life.

Safer

DEVELOPED FOR DEMANDING AND SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENTS

Dura Profile is electrically insulating, spark-free and non-magnetic. This makes the profiles particularly suitable for electrical installations as well as marine, chemical and explosive-risk environments. The range also includes fire-retardant, low-smoke and halogen-free options for projects with particular safety requirements.

Stronger

HIGH STRENGTH-TO-WEIGHT RATIO

Pultruded GRP combines high strength with low weight. Dura Profile weighs around a quarter of an equivalent steel profile but can still be designed for high loads. The low weight simplifies transport, handling and installation and can reduce the need for heavy lifting.

Corrosion resistant

LONG SERVICE LIFE WITH LOW MAINTENANCE

Dura Profile does not rust or rot and requires no painting, galvanising or corrosion protection treatment. This makes the profiles a long-lasting alternative to metal and timber in water and wastewater, offshore, chemical industry and other corrosive environments.

DOCUMENTED

RELIABLE DATA FOR SAFE DESIGN

Load data and material properties are published openly, so that engineers and designers can design based on documented facts. Where needed, technical support is also available for project-specific calculations and profile selection.

DESIGN FREEDOM AND DOCUMENTED STANDARDS

A WIDE PROFILE RANGE FOR EFFICIENT AND SAFE DESIGN

Standard profiles with documented performance to EN 13706

Dura Profile comprises a large stocked range of pultruded GRP profiles, including L-profiles, channel sections, box sections and round tubes. The profiles are developed to meet or exceed performance class E23 in accordance with EN 13706, the European standard for pultruded GRP profiles. E23 is the higher of the standard's two defined performance classes. The wide range gives engineers great freedom to choose the right profile based on load, span, environment and the structure's design. For safety handrails, Dura Composites offers both prefabricated handrail systems and modular handrails with clamp connections. Together with d2 Dura Grating and Dura Profile, they can be built into complete, safe and corrosion-resistant work platforms. Dura Composites carries out extensive in-house testing and data modelling to characterise material properties and ensure consistent, reliable performance. The GRP profiles are tested against the requirements of EN 13706, which cover quality, tolerances, strength, stiffness and surface properties, among other things. Loading and span must always be designed and verified against the project's technical documentation — contact us for project-specific calculations.

A LIGHTWEIGHT ALTERNATIVE TO STEEL AND ALUMINIUM

STRONG CONSTRUCTION WITH EASIER INSTALLATION

Dura Profile combines high strength with low weight. Where steel structures often require a crane or other heavy lifting, many GRP profiles can be handled manually. This simplifies transport and installation, reduces the number of lifting operations and can contribute to shorter installation times and lower logistics costs.

LONG SERVICE LIFE

LOW MAINTENANCE EVEN IN DEMANDING ENVIRONMENTS

GRP does not rust or rot and requires no painting, galvanising or corrosion protection treatment. Dura Profile retains its function over a long period even in environments with moisture, salt water and chemicals. The limited maintenance requirement contributes to a lower total cost over the structure's service life.

STANDARDS AND FIRE SAFETY

TESTED PROPERTIES FOR DIFFERENT PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Dura Profile is available in standard versions as well as fire-retardant and low-smoke variants. The material is electrically insulating, spark-free and non-magnetic. The profiles are tested and documented in accordance with relevant standards, providing a reliable basis for material selection and design.
