GRP CABLE TROUGHING

GRP CABLE TROUGHS FOR RAIL, ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Corrosion-resistant GRP covers for cable troughs, service ducts and technical installations. The low weight makes the covers easier and safer to handle manually than equivalent solutions in steel or concrete.

The products suit both new build and refurbishment, and combine a long service life with low maintenance. They are available in a fire-classified version to class B to EN 13501-1.

Together with Dura Composites, Byggkomposit supplies a broad range of GRP covers for cable troughs, service ducts and technical installations. The covers suit both precast concrete troughs with a flat top edge and troughs with a cast-in rebate, where the cover is to sit flush with the surrounding floor.

The range extends from open mesh grating to fully solid panels and can be configured for pedestrian traffic, light loading and vehicle loading, subject to product selection and installation requirements. The low weight simplifies handling and installation, while the material offers a long service life with low maintenance.

WHY CHOOSE GRP COVERS?

LIGHTWEIGHT, FIRE-CLASSIFIED AND READILY AVAILABLE

BROAD STOCK RANGE

A wide selection of GRP covers for pedestrian traffic and vehicle loading is available for fast delivery.

LOW WEIGHT

Our rectangular HD covers in 50 and 53 mm are among the lightest EN 124 classified covers on the market for standard 600 mm spans. The low weight simplifies lifting, handling and installation.

Fire class B

d² Dura Grating and Dura Slab are available in fire class B to EN 13501-1 and suit projects with demanding requirements for material behaviour in fire.

d² GRP Grating

GRP COVERS FOR CABLE TROUGHS AND SERVICE DUCTS

d² Dura Grating is a moulded GRP grating available in fire class B to EN 13501-1. It works as a cover over cable troughs, service ducts and technical installations where low weight, anti-slip performance and good behaviour in fire matter.

The range includes Standard, Mini Mesh, Micro Mesh and Rectangular Mesh. The different mesh sizes make it possible to tailor the solution to requirements for loading, span, drainage and safety. Rectangular Mesh is developed specifically for narrow cable and service troughs.

d² Dura Grating Solid Top has a completely closed upper surface and suits locations where easy access is needed but light, water or objects must not pass through the cover. The gritted anti-slip surface gives secure grip and is easier to keep clean than open mesh grating, as debris does not collect in the apertures.

d² GRP Solid Top is a grating with a solid gritted GRP panel, 3 mm, bonded over the GRP grating. It has a fully closed upper surface and suits locations where easy access is needed but light, water or objects must not pass through the cover. The gritted anti-slip surface gives secure grip and is easier to keep clean than open mesh grating, as debris does not collect in the apertures.

d² GRP SLAB PANELS

SOLID GRP PANELS FOR HIGH LOADS

d² GRP SLAB PANELS — DURA SLAB

d² Dura Slab is a fully solid panel system in pultruded GRP, developed for high loads. The panels are a low self-weight, low-maintenance alternative to traditional covers and flooring in steel, timber and concrete.

The high strength-to-weight ratio gives a robust structure while keeping the panels easier to handle. They can be fitted with manual lifting eyes or mechanical lifting devices to simplify opening and access.

Used as covers over cable troughs and ducts, the low weight means inspection, cable pulling and maintenance can be carried out faster and more safely, often without heavy lifting or specialist equipment. The panels can also be fitted with locking that helps protect against unauthorised access and prevents uplift from rising water.

  • High strength-to-weight ratio
  • Manual lifting eyes or mechanical lifting arms
  • Versions for vehicle loading to EN 124
  • Lockable panels that help protect against tampering and uplift

Accessories

COMPLETE THE SOLUTION WITH THE RIGHT FEATURES

We offer a broad range of accessories so GRP covers and panel systems can be customised to the requirements of the project. Many items are held in stock, while others are made to order. Please state your requirements early in the project so the right solution can be planned from the start.

LIFTING EYES WITH LIFTING KEY

The standard solution for manual lifting — the key engages slots in the cover.

HAND HOLES

A larger opening that allows the panel to be lifted without a dedicated key. Size and position are set so that the load capacity of the panel is not affected.

MECHANICAL LIFTING DEVICE

Used where heavier covers are opened with lifting equipment rather than handled manually.

Access hatch

A hinged hatch giving quick, simple access for inspection and maintenance without removing the whole panel.

FRAMES

Create a stable bearing and the rebate the cover sits in. Available in versions to suit the full range.

Cover fixings

Hold the cover securely in place where there is no recessed rebate or other natural means of restraint.

Lockable panels

Link and lock the panels to help protect against unauthorised access, tampering and uplift, for example during flooding.

SUPPORT STRUCTURE

GRP or steel supports for long spans, changed span direction, penetrations and other structural adaptations.

Rubber seal

Reduces noise and vibration when the cover is loaded or walked on. Designed for d² GRP Slab panels.

Marking

Clear product identification, for example load class, location or other project-specific information.

Shims

Adjust the height of the panel so the top surface sits at the correct level. Particularly useful in refurbishment or where the existing rebate depth differs.

RFI screening

Panels can be fitted with screening against radio-frequency interference in environments where sensitive electrical or electronic equipment needs protection.

Properties

DEVELOPED FOR A LONG SERVICE LIFE

EASY HANDLING AND INSTALLATION
The low weight makes the covers easier to transport, lift and install. Many versions can be handled manually without heavy lifting equipment.
Anti-slip surface
The gritted top surface gives secure grip and a low slip risk in both dry and wet conditions.
LOWER CLIMATE IMPACT
The products form part of the d² range, engineered for reduced material use and lower embodied carbon. Installation offcuts and end-of-life products can also be collected for recycling.
